Strenghts/Weaknesses can be imported from MS Excel™. They correspond to the lines on MS Excel™ sheets and can be divided, according to their affiliation with folders, into different MS Excel™ sheets.
The Excel Strenghts Template resp. Excel Weaknesses Template are sophisticated tools developed to help you collect and manage your Strenghts/Weaknesses. Each Strenght or Weakness corresponds to one line whereas the columns are the attributes of a Strenght/Weakness.
There is no need to fill all attributes for every Strenght/Weakness. You may also use just a subset of the available attributes. This may either be the case because if you do not know all the details of a Strenght/Weakness when writing it initially, or if you decide not to use certain attributes at all. Nevertheless you are required to use the first two attributes (ID, Title), which are also tagged [required] to define a valid Strenght/Weakness. The headers of a column contain comments explaining the usage and syntax of the attribute which is shown in the column.
It is recommended that you should collect your Strenghts/Weaknesses in semantic sets, each set corresponding to its own table or sheet in MS Excel™. Each MS Excel™ file and each of its sheets will be mapped to a folder during import.
To import Strenghts/Weaknesses perform a right click on the root node of the project and select Import... in the popup menu. This will activate the import wizard.
Select Data of type Strenght from Microsoft Excel resp. Data of type Weakness from Microsoft Excel on the first page and click Next. On the next page you may select the file to be imported. Click the button Next.
Now you can assign the columns in your Excel-Document to the attributes of the Strenghts resp. Weaknesses in ARCWAY Cockpit.
The column label from your document are thereby displayed on the left side of the dialogue. For each column you can determine the corresponding attribute of the Strenght or Weakness by means of a selection field or you can create a new custom attribute, which to be added as a new column in the SWOT view. Moreover, fixed ranges of values for the affected attributes can be set.
Finally, click Finish and the Strenghts/Weaknesses contained in the MS Excel™ sheet will be imported.
A separate folder is created for each imported template and each sheet contained therein. When a file is imported to a folder that already exists, the existing Strenghts/Weaknesses in ARCWAY Cockpit are updated with the information from the file.
