Importing Tasks from MS Project™
Data Exchange with MS Project™
Tasks can be
- imported from MS Project™
- exported to MS Project™
- synchronized with MS Project™.
Work items cannot be exchanged with MS Project™.
The underlying concept for the first option is as follows:
- MS Project™ is
used to create a project plan for the project, to define milestones
and to schedule release dates
- This project plan is then imported into ARCWAY Cockpit and the tasks are divided into
individual work items
- The work items are managed in ARCWAY
Cockpit including regular updates to the work items to track
the progress
- Repeated synchronizations bring the project plan
up-to-date
Import
To import tasks from MS Project™...
- Select the desired project in the Project
Navigator
- Right click the root node of the project and select Import in the context popup menu. This will activate
the import wizard
- Select Tasks from Microsoft Project and
click Next
- On the next page you may select the file to be imported and
enter a name for your project plan.

- Finally, hit Finish and the tasks
contained in the file will be imported*
You cannot overwrite a previously imported project plan with a
new import.
