The project plan module offers you three Projections:
Additionally, you can change the preferences of the Projections.
The "Progress" Projection will show you a progress bar for each plan element. To start the Projection...
You will now see a screen more or less like this:
Since the bubbles are a little complex, we will now take a detailed look at what you can see in the bubbles.
You can see two bars in each bubble. The bar at the top and the figure at the upper right indicate the initially estimated work for the tasks and work items associated with the plan element. The lower bar shows the work that has already been done (black bar at the left) and the work that is still remaining (green or red bar at the right). The color of the lower left bar indicates whether the estimated actual work is better or worse than the initially estimated work. If the bar is red, it means that the estimated actual work is greater than initially estimated, if it is green, it means the actual work is less than initially estimated. The total estimated actual work is shown in the figure to the lower right.
The initial estimated work is computed based on the initial estimates for the tasks and work items. The actual estimated work is computed based on the work already done and the units completed.
There is an alternative view for this Projection when without estimate is selected in the preferences for this Projection.
Here you see only one bar. It shows the same information as the lower bar in the default view of the projection. The right part shows the work done and the left part the work remaining.
The "Late Tasks" Projection highlights all plan elements that have late tasks. To start the Projection...
You will now see a screen more or less like this:
The warning signs appear on all plan elements that have late tasks.
The "Critical Tasks" Projection highlights all plan elements that have critical tasks. To start the Projection...
You will now see a screen more or less like this:
This Projection is very similar to the "Late Tasks" Projection, but instead of highlighting the late tasks, the warning signs now highlight the critical tasks.
You can specify various settings for the Projections. To start the preferences dialog:
In this dialog you can change the preferences for the Projections.
The drop down list gives you three options:
There is also a check box, which allows you to limit the Projection to only consider critical tasks. If the option is checked, the Projection displays the progress for the tasks and work items that are on the critical path. If the option is not checked, all tasks and work items are considered in the computation of the progress.
There are no settings for the "Late Tasks" Projection
There are no settings for the "Critical Tasks" Projection
The checkbox underneath the group of radio button allows you to specify whether you want to limit the Projection to the result of the current filter or whether you want the Projection to consider all tasks and work items of the project.
If the option is checked, the Projections will display only those tasks and work items that match the active filter. If the option is unchecked, the Projections will display all tasks and work items regardless of the active filter.
