Importing Event-Driven Process Chains from Excel

Event-driven process chains can be imported from MS Excel. Each worksheet with in the excel file reflects one plan. Each line corresponds to one element in EPC, the columns represent the properties of an element.

Template for Event-Driven Process Chains

The template for event-driven process chains is a tool for collecting and managing simple EPCs im MS Excel. You can find the template on your ARCWAY Cockpit CD within the folder Templates\Excel.

Excel Template

Use the abbreviation for the type of the element in the first column of. You have the choice between creating a function (F) or an event (E). If you don't insert a type the element will be treated as an event. You have to insert a name for each element. You can also add a description if you want to.
More columns can be used to import custom properties for an element. In this case the title of the column has to match the ID of the custom property without the prefix custom.. Accordingly the title of a column for the custom property with the ID custom.name has to be name. The import supports all data types. Please note the following remarks:

Importing Event-Driven Process Chains from Excel

To import EPCs from Excel first select the project that shall contain the imported data in the project navigator. Now, use your right mouse button to open the context menu. Select Import....
On the first wizard page select Event-driven process chains from Excel> and click Next.

Now select the file that you want to use as a source for the import. Afterwards click Next

Second Wizard Page

The next wizard page presents a list of all plans that can be found in the selected source file. You can select all the plans that shall be imported from the list and complete the name and description properties if necessary. You can also specify the target section for the imported data within your project.

Third Wizard Page

Now you can click Finish to finish the import or click Next to select all plan elements that shall be made unique and thus be taken over into the repository.

Fourth Wizard Page

Clicking Finish will now finish the import and all selected data will be imported.
