Issues can be imported from MS Excel™. Issues correspond to the lines on MS Excel™ sheets. The partitioning of issues into different MS Excel™ sheets reflects the affiliation of issues to issue sets.
The Excel Issue Template is a sophisticated tool developed to help you collect and manage your issues. Each issue should correspond to one line whereas the columns are the possible attributes of an issue.
There is no need to fill all attributes for every issue. You may also use just a subset of the available attributes. This may either be the case because if you do not know all the details of an issue when writing it initially, or if you decide not to use certain attributes at all. Nevertheless you are required to use the first two attributes (ID, Title), which are also tagged [required] to define a valid issue. The headers of a column contain comments explaining the usage and syntax of the attribute which is shown in the column.
It is recommended that you should collect your issues in semantic sets, each set corresponding to its own table or sheet in MS Excel™. Each MS Excel™ file and each of its sheets will be mapped to an Issue Set during import.
To import issues perform a right click on the root node of the project and select "Import..." in the popup menu. This will activate the import wizard.
Select Data of type Issue from Microsoft Excel and click Next. On the next page you may select the file to be imported. Only MS Excel™ sheets that have been created using the Excel Issue Template are supported. Finally, click Finish and the issues contained in the MS Excel™ sheet will be imported.
A separate issue set is created for every imported file and for every sheet contained in the file. When importing a file or sheet for which a set already exists, the issues in ARCWAY Cockpit are updated with the information contained in the file.
