ARCWAY Cockpit

Introduction to Repository View

The Repository View displays all the Unique Elements of a project in a hierarchy.

What is shown?

Repository View

You see the list of all Unique Elements in the project (1). The type of each Unique Element is indicated by its icon (2).

Some Unique Elements can be expanded (3). If you expand an entry, you can see the Unique Elements it contains on any of the plans (4).

Attention should be payed to ensuring that a Unique Element does not directly or indirectly contain itself. If, nevertheless, there should be any Unique Elements in a cyclic containment relationship, then they are listed below a special cycle node which is marked by a green cycle symbol (5). Additionally, the concerned Unique Elements will be added a small cycle sign to their symbol in the upper right corner.

How can the view be adjusted?

Text search

In the Repository View it is possible to do a text search. To use the text search just type the word you are looking for into the search text field. The Repository View will update automatically.

The text search does not include all fields, however. It will not work on creation date and date of last modification, e.g.

Filters

Unique Elements shown in the Repository View can be filtered based on their attribute values, by selecting the Filters... action in the toolbar of the Repository View.

When a filter is active, the view displays the text filtered below the toolbar. This indicates, that it may be that not all Unique Elements are currently shown in the view.

Highlight of Selected Unique Elements

By default, if Unique Elements are selected anywhere in ARCWAY Cockpit they are highlighted in this view. This is also the case if just an occurrence of a Unique Element is selected on a plan. You can disable this behavior by pushing the button Link Selection With Selection of Other Views in the toolbar of the view. By pushing the button again, you can enable the automatical highlight of selected Unique Elements again.

Sorting

Unique Elements can be shown sorted by the values of a certain column. To do so, click on the header of the column.

Customising Columns

Via Customize Columns... in the view menu a dialogue can be opened, in which the columns to be displayed in the Repository View can be configured.

Additionally the order of the displayed columns can be determined by drag'n'drop of the column headers.

How can Unique Elements be edited?

Renaming Unique Elements

To rename a Unique Element, select it in the Repository View and click on Properties in the context popup menu. All occurrences of the Unique Element will be renamed automatically as well.

Deleting Unique Elements

To permanently delete a Unique Element, select it in the Repository View and click on Delete in the context popup menu. Deletion is only permitted for Unique Elements that don't occur on any plan (these Unique Elements are marked by the label suffix "(unassigned)").
